Exploring The World Of Handcrafted Furniture Construction

Hi there! The name is Nicky and I'm here to present the fascinating world of furniture construction to you. Modern furniture comes from a long line of handcrafted items that have recently fallen out of favor. I grew up in a quirky household where we created all of our own furniture by hand. I have fond memories of shaping wood on the lathe for table and couch legs before I could even ride a bike. Today I continue to create furniture using all of the skills I learned from my awesome parents. I would like to share the knowledge I've collected over the years with you to help expand this interesting hobby. My main goal is to see handmade furniture secure its place in the marketplace. I hope you learn all you need to know about techniques, tools and building materials to create signature pieces you'll love for lifetime.

How To Protect Your Home's Windows From Golf Ball Damage

If you are building a custom home on a parcel that borders a golf course and are worried about rogue golf balls breaking your windows, then you will be pleased to learn that you can install a window tint film on your home's windows that is designed to prevent breakage and provide impact protection. As you can image, a well-hit golf ball can easily break a residential window, and the resulting falling glass shards can be dangerous for your family and anyone who might be standing under the window as well.

Here is some additional information about impact protective window films to help you decide if this is an option you would like to choose for your new custom home's windows:

Residential Window Tint Film Basics

There are many different types of window tint films on the market today. Impact protective window films for use in areas with issues such as flying golf balls are designed to help absorb the impact of the ball and keep your glass windows from breaking. The film is less expensive than installing impact-resistant glass on your home, and it will provide the same protection.

In addition to protective window films, you can also purchase tinting films that contain metals that help to obscure the view into your home from the outside. This type of window film is ideal for households with children to provide an extra layer of safety by keeping people on the golf course from being able to see into your home.

For an added custom appearance, you can also purchase window tint films that have etched designs on them. Once installed on your home's windows, the designs can be seen from the outside of the house and will be invisible from the inside as to not obscure the view out of the windows.

Additional Advantages of Window Films

Finally, there are a few additional advantages of installing impact protective window films on your windows. One such advantage is the reduction of glare on your television and computer screens because the window film will block much of the sun's UV rays from entering your home. This blockage also helps to prevent fading of your carpets and furniture that sits in the sunlight streaming through the window. Also, because the sun's harmful rays are blocked, this also helps to keep your home at a steady temperature during the summer and limits the heat generated by the windows.
