Exploring The World Of Handcrafted Furniture Construction

Hi there! The name is Nicky and I'm here to present the fascinating world of furniture construction to you. Modern furniture comes from a long line of handcrafted items that have recently fallen out of favor. I grew up in a quirky household where we created all of our own furniture by hand. I have fond memories of shaping wood on the lathe for table and couch legs before I could even ride a bike. Today I continue to create furniture using all of the skills I learned from my awesome parents. I would like to share the knowledge I've collected over the years with you to help expand this interesting hobby. My main goal is to see handmade furniture secure its place in the marketplace. I hope you learn all you need to know about techniques, tools and building materials to create signature pieces you'll love for lifetime.

3 Tips for Keeping Your Brick Pavers Looking Clean

Do you have brick pavers in your yard? Perhaps on your patio, driveway, or walkway? Brick pavers can add an element of charm and beauty to any outdoor setting. If you're like many homeowners, one of the main reasons that you probably chose the pavers is because of the splash of unique color that they can bring to your yard. Over time, though, that color can fade and break down. The powerful UV rays of the sun can sap the pavers of color. Dirt and spilled liquids can also affect the appearance of the pavers. A little basic maintenance can keep your pavers looking bright and fresh. Here are three tips to keep your pavers looking good:

Clean dirt and liquid as soon as you see it. It's natural that your pavers may get dirty. Kids or pets can track dirt across the bricks. You may spill a drink on your patio bricks or your car could leak fluid onto a brick paver driveway. Any outdoor surface is bound to get dirty.

The key is to clean that dirt before it has the chance to accumulate. Use a powerful leaf blower to clear any dirt or other solids from your pavers as soon as you notice the mess. If there's spilled liquid on the pavers, use a little bit of cat litter to soak it up and then remove the litter once it has dried. By cleaning your pavers regularly, you can prevent dirt and liquids from settling into the bricks' porous areas.

Have your bricks power washed. While good regular cleanings are helpful, they can't get every piece of dirt and grime that come in contact with your pavers. To do that, you'll need to power wash your bricks. You can certainly rent a power washer and do it yourself. However, you may be best served by hiring a brick paver cleaning and sealing company. They can strip any old layers of sealant to make sure they're cleaning the actual surface of the brick. They can also replace any filler or sand that gets washed away in the cleaning process.

Seal your pavers. If washing clears the dirt away, then sealant keep it from getting back in. A good sealant will keep dirt and liquids from penetrating the porous areas of the brick, allowing the paver to keep its bright color. The sealant may also provide some protection from UV rays, preventing natural fade over time. If your bricks have already faded, you may want to have your service company stain the pavers before they seal them. The stain will bring the pavers' color back to life.

For more information, contact a brick paver cleaning and staining company like American Pressure Cleaning & Sealing in your area. They can recommend solutions and help you keep your pavers looking their best.
