Exploring The World Of Handcrafted Furniture Construction

Hi there! The name is Nicky and I'm here to present the fascinating world of furniture construction to you. Modern furniture comes from a long line of handcrafted items that have recently fallen out of favor. I grew up in a quirky household where we created all of our own furniture by hand. I have fond memories of shaping wood on the lathe for table and couch legs before I could even ride a bike. Today I continue to create furniture using all of the skills I learned from my awesome parents. I would like to share the knowledge I've collected over the years with you to help expand this interesting hobby. My main goal is to see handmade furniture secure its place in the marketplace. I hope you learn all you need to know about techniques, tools and building materials to create signature pieces you'll love for lifetime.

Glass Shower Doors: How To Prevent & Get Rid Of Hard Water Stains

You've probably seen hard water stains more than you want to, and you know those unsightly stains can hinder the natural beauty of your glass shower doors. Do not fret; the following guide will help you prevent hard water stains and also help you get rid of them if you need to.

What Is Hard Water?

Knowing what causes hard water should help you prevent it. The reason your glass shower doors get stained is because you have hard water. Hard water is water that contains too many minerals, like calcium carbonate. The high-density mineral content in the water will not evaporate with your water, and this mineral content causes those white stains on your glass shower doors.

So, your first step towards preventing hard water stains is installing a water softening machine in your water system. You can also just install a water softening shower head to save some money.

Simple Steps To Prevent Hard Water Stains

Consider the following steps to stop stains before they come:

  • Purchase a glass shower squeegee and clean away the water before it dries.
  • You can just use a microfiber cloth to dry your glass shower doors.
  • Spray a glass shower cleaner on your shower doors and simply wipe it off.

Remove Hard Water Stains Easily

If the mineral deposits that have stained your glass shower doors have hardened, you need to loosen up the bond. You can do this by purchasing a high-priced glass shower cleaner to get rid of these stains. But you can also try a simple recipe, too.

You'll need the following:

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup of vinegar
  • Juice from one lemon
  • A clean bowl
  • Funnel
  • Clean spray bottle
  • And a clean rag

Steps:

  1. Just mix the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Pour the blend in your spray bottle using your funnel.
  3. Spray the water stains, and gently rub away all the water stains.
  4. Dry your glass shower doors when you are done cleaning.

The reason this recipe is effective is due to the vinegar and lemon juice. Both of these ingredients are acidic and should help loosen the mineral stains. For example, the lemon contains citric acid. Citric acid cuts right through the mineral deposits. This is especially helpful if your hard water stains are very thick.

As you can see, you can make sure your frameless glass shower doors stay beautiful, and you can do so with simple steps.
