Exploring The World Of Handcrafted Furniture Construction

Hi there! The name is Nicky and I'm here to present the fascinating world of furniture construction to you. Modern furniture comes from a long line of handcrafted items that have recently fallen out of favor. I grew up in a quirky household where we created all of our own furniture by hand. I have fond memories of shaping wood on the lathe for table and couch legs before I could even ride a bike. Today I continue to create furniture using all of the skills I learned from my awesome parents. I would like to share the knowledge I've collected over the years with you to help expand this interesting hobby. My main goal is to see handmade furniture secure its place in the marketplace. I hope you learn all you need to know about techniques, tools and building materials to create signature pieces you'll love for lifetime.

Four Of The Best Green Roofing Products To Use For The New Roof On Your Home

If you are having a new roof installed on your home, you may not want to use materials like asphalt shingles. Asphalt shingles do not last, and they are not a good green roofing solution for your home. There are other materials that are a greener solution for a new roof installation, such as cedar shakes, metal roofing or clay tiles. These products cost a little more, but they have many advantages that outweigh the extra costs. If you are looking for a green roof for your home, here are four of the best options available:

1. Metal Roofing That Is Durable And Affordable

Metal roofing is a great roofing material to choose when replacing an asphalt shingle roof. It is energy efficient, and it can be made from recycled materials. It is also ideal for installing over an asphalt roof, which will save you money if you have old shingles that need to be removed. It also comes in many different styles and colors, so you will be able to find the perfect roofing material to match your style of home.

2. Cedar Shakes From Renewable Resources

Cedar shakes are another great material to use on your roof if you want a product that is environmentally friendly. It is one of the only roofing materials that is made completely from a renewable resource, because the trees it is made from are replanted. It can be used to replace asphalt shingles, and will last for many years before it needs to be replaced. Cedar shakes will require some maintenance, such as cleaning and repairing damaged shakes overtime.

3. Durable Clay Tiles That Rarely Need Replacing

Clay tiles can also be a great solution if you want to have a durable roof for your home. These are energy efficient and will last for many years. The only problem with tiles is that they have to have a roof to support the load. If you are building a new home, or extensively remodeling your home, clay tiles can be a great option for the roofing material.

4. Slate Roofing Options For A Green Roof

Slate roofing is made from a rock material, and they can last for many years like tiles. There are also newer synthetic slate materials that can be installed on most homes. The synthetic slate can be made from recycled products, and usually they are rated to have a longer life than conventional asphalt shingles. If you choose to use real slate, the downside is that this material can be costly, which is why the synthetic products are usually a better option.

These are some of the green roofing solutions that you can have installed on your new roof. If you need help deciding what product is best for your home and your needs, contact a professional roofing contractor, such as Roof Tech, to help you with installing your new roof.
